By iKfz-Redaktion · iKfz online zulassung · Updated on 01.08.2026
This guide is aimed at everyone who wants to complete an i-Kfz procedure online in Achern – including the specifics and responsibilities for Achern.
At a glance
Anyone selling, scrapping or temporarily laying up a vehicle must take it out of service (de-register it). Taking a vehicle out of service is possible online – without an appointment and without appearing in person. You need a valid ID card or passport, registration certificate part I and the vehicle's plates.
This guide applies to all registration offices in Achern.
When should you de-register a vehicle?
De-registration makes sense or is required if you have sold a vehicle, have it scrapped or do not use it for a longer period. Taking the vehicle out of service ends the obligation to pay vehicle tax and to insure it.
When selling to a private individual, the buyer often takes over the transfer. If the vehicle is scrapped, taking it out of service with proof of recycling is mandatory.
What you need for the online de-registration
For the digital de-registration, have ready:
- Valid ID card or passport
- Registration certificate part I
- The vehicle's plates (front and rear)
What happens after de-registration?
After a successful de-registration you receive a confirmation. The vehicle may then no longer be driven on public roads. You keep the plates – they are de-stamped.
Within a certain period a de-registered vehicle can be re-registered without a new registration (re-registration). Keep the vehicle documents in a safe place for this.
Step by step
- 1Prepare your documents. Have your ID card or passport, registration certificate part I and the plates ready.
